Inclusion Policy
At Hafs Academy, we are dedicated to meeting the individual needs of all students, promoting a diverse and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. We believe in fostering inclusion so that all students can reach their full potential academically and personally, with access to both the curriculum and extracurricular activities, alongside tailored support.
We offer a broad, balanced curriculum with high expectations for all students. The achievements, attitudes, and well-being of every student matter, ensuring that Hafs Academy celebrates the individuality of all students, regardless of ethnicity, background, disability, gender, or attainment, while providing a shared and enriching educational experience.
Our Inclusion team, led by the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator), ensures that students with diverse needs are supported effectively. The governor responsible for Inclusion is Leon Jacobs. We are proud to have been awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) for our outstanding inclusive practices, reflecting the rigorous inspection process that evaluated our commitment to inclusion.
Understanding Inclusion:
Inclusion at Hafs Academy is about providing equal opportunities for all students to learn and participate, regardless of their circumstances. This includes:
– Minority ethnic and faith groups, travellers, asylum seekers, and refugees
– Students who require additional support with learning English as an Additional Language (EAL)
– Students with special educational needs, including those with emotional, behavioural, or social difficulties
– Students with physical disabilities
– Gifted and talented students
– Students in care or with specific welfare needs
– Students at risk of disaffection or exclusion from school
Purpose of the Inclusion Team:
– To ensure a shared understanding of inclusion across all stakeholders
– To make all educational settings and activities accessible to every student
– To promote partnerships with parents, carers, and other stakeholders
– To monitor success through key indicators and measure inclusion progress
– To effectively use resources for prevention and early intervention
– To collaborate with other education providers to share expertise
– To review and improve inclusion practices regularly
Inclusion is embedded in all our policies and practices. Staff training focuses on strategies to promote inclusion, while students are encouraged to understand these values through PSHE lessons, form time, assemblies, and day-to-day interactions with staff.
